Dr Ria Fitriana

Ria has been working in marine and fisheries governance, especially coastal community livelihoods, for over twenty years. Most of her research has focused on value chain of marine products and gender, including encouraging the incorporation of gender in coastal and marine governance. Her research seeks to improve the participation of coastal communities in marine product value chains and bring these stakeholder groups at regional, national and local levels to discuss opportunities and ways to address constraints and opportunities to improve the participation.

Ria currently co-manages the Livelihoods Lab project “Building Capacity of Civil Society Organisation in Southeast Asia to Collaborate with Governments to Equitably and Sustainably Secure Fisheries and Support Maritime Security”. She also actively participates in the Gender in Fisheries and Aquaculture Network, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Asian Fisheries Science, a SCOPUS indexed publication of the Asian Fisheries Society.
